Jane Maree Webster
Founder of The French Table
Tell us a little bit about yourself! When did you start The French Table?
I started The French Table 20 years ago when we bought Chateau Bosgouet in Normandy. A Life Residency that offers a unique long stay residence program open to people from all around the world. You will arrive and unpack and stay for 1 month or longer.
What made you launch your brand?
I love to bring people together. During their Château Life Residency anyone can be anything they want it to be. They can sit and write, paint or meditate and that for an entire month. Visit markets, dine in exquisite restaurants, visit gardens or other chateaux. Discover exhibitions, artisans .... that I discovered myself and are happy to recommend to our visitors.
You might like to join a cooking class, a publishing workshop, a French lesson, a sewing circle .... or just go for long beautiful walks where the patchwork quilt of Normandy sprawls out as far as the eye can see.
What are you most passionate about?
Family, feeding people and the deep connection we shape when each of our visitors explores their individual passions and unique talents.
Where do you gather inspiration from?
Everywhere in nature, music and travel. Ideally all of that combined. Nature always inspires me to pause and actively notice all the beautiful things that surround me.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Always be yourself …. Don’t be what you think others expect you to be. It’s the advice that we share with our guests. When it gets to expression and creativity no advice is more on point. But it certainly applies to other areas of life as well.
What quote or saying do you try to live by?
Sometimes, when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.
