Lina Nordin Gee

Founder of Parisian Postcards & Deuxieme Studio

Tell us a little bit about yourself! What made you want to launch Parisian Postcards & Les Deuxieme Studio?

I started the shoe brand, Deuxième Studios, in 2017. I had been in the fashion business for a few years and I wanted to try making my own brand. I lived in the ”deuxieme arrondissement” of Paris at the time, that’s where the name comes from.

I started off with only two different styles of shoes. Later the collection grew to include many more styles and eventually handbags. During the lockdown in Paris I suddenly, like many others, found out I couldn’t sell my shoes or handbags anymore. All the factories closed and so did the shops (including the Printemps department store that just had started to stock the shoes!).

I had to adapt to the situation and had to find a new source of income, so I set up an online shop for prints of my paintings - and that was the start of Parisian Postcards. Two years ago we had a son and now I have let Deuxième rest a bit, while focusing on my art, and the series of children’s books I create together with my husband Oliver Gee.

What are you most passionate about?

Family. After that, it’s the task of making our fourth children’s book about Paris. This one will be out just in time for the Paris olympics, hint hint….

Where do you gather inspiration from?

For the books I get a lot of inspiration from mid-century style illustrations, a lot of monotones and ink drawings.

If you could invite any three people to your dream dinner party who would  they be?

Elsa Schiaparelli, because I would love to see her outfit for the evening (maybe I’d serve lobster just to be on theme…), Sempé because I am a big fan, and finally Jane Birkin who’s been an icon for me since I started noticing fashion in my early teens.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t worry about what others may think, no-one really knows what they’re doing anyways ;)

What quote or saying do you try to live by?

I don’t really live by any quotes, but here’s one I like: Do not take life too seriously, you’ll never get out of it alive.

Say Bonjour
